Registering Printers Depending on Printer Types
- Directly (Universal Printe compatible printers)
- Using “Universal Print Connector” (legacy printers or printers that does not support Universal Print natively)
- Connector is installed in Azure VM
- Connector is installed in PC that belongs to on-premise network
Universal Print Compatible Printers
- Printers can directly be registered to Universal Print (no driver or connector is required)
- Some existing (compatible) printers can be registered to Universal Print after firmware upgrade

Connector in On-premise PC
Universal Print connector is installed in a PC that belongs to on-premise network. PC (in which connector is installed) must be always on and the connector app must be kept running.
Registering Printers
- Install connector and open it
- Sign in using Azure credentials
- Give connector a name
- Select available printers
- Register
