Concepts

• Source database: source of flow of data i.e. OnPremise database (when data is synced from OnPremise to Azure)
• Sync agent: A software developed by Microsoft that needs to be installed in source database environment
• Hub database: A dedicated databse where sync related metadata will be saved (same hub database will be shared for same region)
• Sync group: Databse and tables in Azure where data will come

Hub database

• Create hub database for sync metadata

Sync agent

• Go to: https://portal.azure.com/#allservices
• Search “SQL” > SQL databases > Select target database
• Search “Sync” > Sync to other databases
• Create sync agent > generate key
• Download and install Sync agent: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=27693
• Register sync agent

Sync group

• Create sync group
• Select database and tables to be synced
